Richard H. Menard, Jr.

Richard H. Menard, Jr. is a litigation associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Sidley Austin. His practice encompasses a range of civil litigation, with an emphasis on products liability and mass tort litigation, specializing in the pharmaceutical industry. His experience includes large-scale tort litigation in state and federal courts, including pre-trial practice, with a focus on expert witnesses, trial work, and numerous state and federal appeals.

Mr. Menard also focuses on religious liberty litigation, representing both individual and institutional clients. He has successfully defended two constitutional challenges to the federal Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act in U.S. Courts of Appeals, has argued before federal district and appellate courts, and has represented religious institutions as friends of the court in several Supreme Court cases.

From 2001 to 2002, Mr. Menard was a law clerk for the Honorable Thomas G. Saylor of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
